    I take a mountain bike along the rivers here in Pittsburgh and I always keep a 2 piece rod with me in the nylon straps on the side of a backpack. I make sure I twisty-tie the pieces though so none get caught on a branch and lost. If you're not going to be carrying a backpack, try strapping it to the Top Tube with the real right under your saddle maybe.
