I was just wondering because a lot of what I've read the guys who paint and airbrush lures finish it with a clear coat to protect the paint, and I've seen lures both ways. Didn't know if it would add any durability or not.

Since you can make it whatever you want, copy something you see in the lake you are going to fish. I've never done it with "prismatic tape" but I have made custom lures with an old set where you just painted the lures. Good luck, they are a lot of fun(and sometimes you can make a good one which makes you feel pretty good about yourself haha). Also I do not think the clear coat would benefit the lure at all, but maybe I am wrong.

So my regular hunting season is winding down and decided to pick up some basic spoon lure blanks and prismatic tapes. Anyone have experience with making their own lures have any tips or recommendations? Is it worth it to clear coat the lure if all i use is the prism tape?
