What type of line do you use on your spinning outfits. Braid, mono, etc, and what brand. I will be doing river fishing for trout, any suggestions of what type of line to use.

I agree with the 3 before me Mon or Fluoro, 4lb or 6lb with 4 leader and rooster tails, I had great success with a rooster tail like bait called an "Abu Reflex" they were handed down from my grandad. They had a blade with ridges across it and the wire where the treble hooked on was in a "W" shape. They worked great. They stopped making them many years ago. I have a couple left(if I can keep the kids away from they) They just came back out. Try them bass, trout, crappie, they are great!

All these guys are correct. Trout like small lures and it is hard to cast with larger line. Larger diameter line also doesn't sink as fast as thinner. When fishing in a small pool in a river, it's important to be able to get your bait down to where the fish are quickly. I have caught 14 lb steelhead on 6 lb test.
