There is a lake I like to fish that has a number of trout. The thing is, its heavily fished. The big fish wont bite anything I throw at them. Any ideas what to fish with and how to fish it?

I don't fish much- except for hard to catch trout in out of the way places and only in order to eat.
My 2 favorite consistent trout getters;
if by fly rod - grey ghost
if by spin rod - Swedish pimple.

I was listening to huntcast by Joe Duckworth on iTunes and one his episodes talked about this. He mentioned that the best way to catch trout on a lake was at night with a light and worms. I tried it and holy cow was he right!! Give it a try!

pjsabella, will you explain more? like what do you mean by with light?

I went out on a lake where I live and had a very bright LED lantern that I duck taped to a dowel rod. I went out to the deepest part of the lake (which wasn't too deep) and I hung the rod off the stern of the row boat. I let the light radiate down to the bottom and within 5 minutes small fish were all over the surface of the water. I dropped my warm down to the bottom of the lake and started to real in the big trout. This would probably work off the shore as well but you obviously can't get as deep. The key is patience and lots of bug spray! Ignore the smaller fish up top. They are attracted by the lights and bugs. Its the bigger fish at the bottom that are attracted by the light and the smaller fish. Good luck!!!
