Snails are excellent bait for catfish. I use them.

I've never tried snails for bait. Earth worms and night crawlers for me.

Guess I was thinking only of slugs. I've actually eaten snails---once. They tasted like garlic butter and cost too much. I'll be anxious to hear the results.

I never have used them for bait but I have raised snails in my fish aquariums. The fish have not bothered them and they can breed and get out of hand. But I guess that if you bust the shell and they put out a bloody presence, the fish might go for them. It is always worth a try.

It was not too bad catching them, just hold on to the shell. slugs on the other hand, no way.
