how to tell were big bass are and what to use?

Big bass are usually mixed in where the normal base are, the key is using bigger baits, 5 in. and bigger, though you will definitely catch less fish, they will definitely be bigger.

I would try big swim baits 5"-7", and also to catch big bass you need to cover lots and lots of water and hundreds of casts

They're going to be looking for habitat and cover just like any other bass, they didn't get to be that big by being overly bold.

Weather and light conditions are going to play a significant role in where they hang out.
