Guess there aren't many Westerners on here. You might post this on FieldandStream.com. Lots more activity there, and plenty of users from the western states.

I guess it all depends on what you'd like to fish for---trout, bass, walleyes, etc. One of my favorite places in the world is the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. Here's a link to a recent podcast OL/FS web editor did earlier this summer:
